DaSilva Memorial Field

DaSilva Memorial Field and Track Photo Gallery

Originally opened as St. John's Stadium in 1978, DaSilva Memorial Field was rededicated in 1998 in memory of John DaSilva, a St. John's University hockey star who was killed tragically in an automobile accident. DaSilva Memorial Field is home to the men's lacrosse and women's track and field teams, and has a seating capacity of 1,200. The field was resurfaced in the summer of 2004 to incorporate the new FieldTurf surface. In 2010, the University completed the D'Angelo Center, a 127,000-square foot, five story student center that is adjacent to the field. The D'Angelo Center also serves as a press box for men's lacrosse games and track & field events.

Since DaSilva Memorial Field was reinstated in 2005, the men's lacrosse team has a combined home record of 18-27. They have had four of their players enter the MLL draft as well and have also made one Big East Conference Tournament Appearance since they changed from the ECAC to the Big East conference in 2010.

The Red Storm Track and Field team hosts numerous spring events on the DaSilva Memorial Track, such as its annual spring Monday Night Meeting at DaSilva Memorial Field with local competitors such as, Bronx Community College, Monroe College, York College, Nassau Community College, Staten Island College, St. Thomas Aquinas, Pratt Institute, Dominican College, CCNY, Kingsborough Community College and representatives from a number of area track clubs are in attendance..
