DaSilva Memorial Field
Originally opened as St. John's Stadium in 1978, DaSilva Memorial Field was rededicated in 1998 in memory of John DaSilva, a St. John's University hockey star who was killed tragically in an automobile accident. DaSilva Memorial Field is home to the men's lacrosse and women's track and field teams, and has a seating capacity of 1,200. The field was resurfaced in the summer of 2004 to incorporate the new FieldTurf surface. In 2010, the University completed the D'Angelo Center, a 127,000-square foot, five-story student center that is adjacent to the field. The D'Angelo Center also serves as a press box for men's lacrosse games and track & field events.
The Red Storm Track and Field team hosts numerous spring events on the DaSilva Memorial Track. The track was renovated starting in the fall of 2013. St. John's hosted two meets on the new track in 2014, the Annual Monday Track & Field Meeting and the inaugural Tom Farrell Classic. The $1.5 million state-of-the-art Regupol track facility is expected to feature competitors from a number of local colleges and track clubs.
