QUEENS, N.Y. – For the second consecutive year the St. John’s dance team found itself among the top five dance teams in the nation, earning a fourth-place finish in Hip Hop at this year’s Universal Dance Association (UDA) National competition, held at the Walt Disney World Resort in Orlando, Florida, this past weekend.
“The team danced their hearts out on the performance floor on Sunday in the final round of competition,” said head coach Christine McCarton. “Their performance had an incredible level of intensity and really entertained the crowd at the competition. We are very pleased to again be a top-five dance team in the nation!”
After a program-best second place in 2011, St. John’s has finished among the top 10 in Hip Hop in each of the past five years, taking fifth and eighth place in 2012 and 2013, respectively, before bringing home a third-place medal last year and a fourth-place finish in 2015.
Saint Joseph’s took first place in the Division I Hip Hop competition while Delaware and Southeastern Louisiana took second and third, respectively.
