QUEENS, N.Y. – As part of a series of ongoing upgrades to the St. John’s Athletics facilities, the university recently completed the renovation of a sports medicine therapy room located in Carnesecca Arena.
Imprinted with St. John’s branding, the new-look therapy room was upgraded with a new entranceway, windows, flooring tile, tile walls, lighting, air conditioning and Grimm Scientific Industries Cryotherm HydroTherapy units.
“Our sports medicine team, facilities department, design and construction teams, and Grimm Scientific all did an outstanding job completing this project,” said Senior Associate Athletics Director for Administration John Diffley. “This new sports medicine treatment facility will benefit our student-athletes through injury prevention, recovery, and rehabilitation.”
The state-of-the-art units are operationally efficient, energy saving, clinically effective and engineered specifically for sports medicine therapy. Both hot and cold whirlpool tanks offer whole-body and extremity immersion for injury prevention, recovery and rehabilitation. Water temperatures are precisely maintained with an internal refrigeration system.
“The sports medicine staff is excited about the new addition of the Grimm hydrotherapy units to our therapy modalities for our student-athletes,” said Assistant Athletic Director for Sports Medicine Ron Linfonte ATC. “We anticipate these new additions will improve both athlete performance and reduce athletic soft tissue injuries.”
The high-quality stainless steel tanks assure maximum sanitation and provide a lifetime of durable service. The exterior of the tubs is coated with a comfortable and easy to clean cameo white corian solid surface material. The tandem of tanks also feature electronic temperature controls, which accurately maintain and digitally display water temperatures in both tanks.
“Grimm Scientific has been installed in some of the best facilities in the country. These units will assist our talented sports medicine team in providing top quality care for our student-athletes, on a daily basis,” added Diffley.
