St. John's Announces Corporate Marketing Partnership With ISP Sports

QUEENS, N.Y. - The St. John's University Department of Athletics has reached an agreement with ISP Sports, the country's foremost collegiate sports marketing company, to serve as the exclusive sales and marketing representative for the Red Storm, University and ISP officials announced on Monday.

With the long-term year partnership, which officially begins on July 1, 2010, ISP will market and manage a wide variety of corporate sponsorship opportunities involving St. John's Athletics, including live play-by-play radio broadcasts for men's basketball games, game-day publications such as the award-winning Red Storm Men's and Women's Basketball Yearbook and signage in on-campus facilities and at corporate hospitality events. The company will also serve as a sales representative for, the official website of St. John's Athletics, and have some commercial opportunities available for St. John's contests in Madison Square Garden.

"The opportunity to work with Ben Sutton and ISP, the leader in the industry of collegiate athletics marketing, is tremendous step in positioning St. John's Athletics program to remain competitive on the national and conference levels," said Chris Monasch, Red Storm Director of Athletics. "With ISP's clients and connections and what they can offer sponsors, we feel like that's going to be to our advantage. With ISP also handling the conference's rights, we believe there will be a synergy there and that was an important factor for us."

St. John's joins four other BIG EAST Conference institutions in partnering with ISP, which currently serves as the sales and marketing representative for Pitt, Syracuse, USF and Villanova. The company also has a strong relationship with the BIG EAST Conference itself, managing all corporate sponsorship opportunities surrounding the league's championship events, as well as producing and marketing a national radio network for BIG EAST football and men's basketball.

For the last several years, St. John's had handled its rights in-house, and two of the athletic department's corporate marketing directory, Sandy Rosenberg and Tim Roth, will join the ISP staff and work on the St. John's property.

Overall, ISP is the sales and marketing partner for more than 60 universities, conferences, bowl games and venues across the country, making it the largest collegiate athletics marketing company in America. The company was founded in 1992 in Winston-Salem, N.C., which still serves as a home for its corporate headquarters.
