A physically strong middle infielder with a strong throwing
arm and good speed … provided a spark from the bottom of the Red
Storm lineup with a solid year at the plate in 2006 … also showed
good patience at the plate and had a .371 on-base percentage.
As a Freshman (2006)
Had a .261 batting average, 23 runs scored and a .371 on-base
percentage in 42 games (24 starts) … reached base in 17 of his last
21 games, drawing 13 walks and scoring 17 runs over that span … was
fourth on the team with 90 defensive assists and third with a ratio
of one run scored per 3.8 at-bats … hit .328 (9-for-28) with two
outs … went 2-for-3 with a walk, run scored and stolen base against
Iona (May 10) … singled, doubled and scored two runs in a win over
New York Tech (May 2) … went 1-for-3 with two runs, two RBI and a
triple at St. Francis (April 4) … scored the game-winning run on a
suicide squeeze at Villanova (March 25) … was 2-for-4 with a
triple, four RBI and two runs vs. Quinnipiac (March 19) … singled,
walked twice and scored a run against Albany (March 14) … went
3-for-5 with a double, two RBI, one run and one walk at East
Tennessee State (March 3) … went 3-for-4 with a double and two
singles in his collegiate debut at Texas Tech (Feb. 19).

A four-year letterwinner at Mount St. Michael in the Bronx …
was a two-time All-City selection, earning honorable mention
recognition as a sophomore and second team recognition as a senior
… was an All-CHSAA choice as a junior in 2004 … hit .300 or better
in each of his four seasons with the Mountaineers, including a .385
mark and seven home runs his senior season … hit .365 with five
homers as a junior and hit a total of 16 home runs throughout his
high school career.

Graciano Matias and Annette Cobian … came to St. John's because of
its athletics and academics and for its campus and surrounding
environment … was a volunteer in local soup kitchens throughout his
