Postgame Notes: Hofstra 63, St. John's 51

NEW YORK, N.Y.
- Tonight's meeting was the 26th in an all-time series against
Hofstra that dates back to the 1940-41 season. The Red Storm fell
to 21-5 overall against the Pride with the loss.
- The loss snapped a seven-game winning streak for the Red Storm,
which was the longest streak at St. John's since the 1999-00 team
won eight straight from Feb. 5-Feb. 29, 2000. The longest previous
win streak of the Norm Roberts Era was three games (twice, last
Jan. 8-Jan. 21, 2006).
- St. John's fell to 14-11 all-time in Holiday Festival
championship games and 65-34 in 99 all-time games at the Holiday
Festival.
- Junior Eugene Lawrence and senior Lamont Hamilton were both
named to the Aeropostale Holiday Festival All-Tournament team.
Lawrence averaged 9.0 points, 4.5 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 2.0
steals in two games, while Hamilton averaged a double-double with
15.5 points and 11.5 rebounds.
- Hamilton scored the team's first five points and finished the
game with 22 points, 10 rebounds (five offensive) and his 15th
career double-double.
- Lawrence dished out each of his two assists and scored all
eight of his points in the second half. The junior knocked down a
pair of 3-pointers and recorded one steal in 28 minutes for the
contest.
- Anthony Mason Jr. tied a season and career-high with 11
rebounds, including four on the offensive end, and added seven
points, three assists and a blocked shot.
- Freshman Larry Wright made the most of his 14 minutes, knocking
down two 3-pointers, grabbing two rebounds and making two trips to
the free throw line.
