Norm Roberts on Hamilton: “I think Lamont had a great summer. It’s one of the few summers since I’ve been here that he hasn’t had any injuries or setbacks. He has done a great job of gaining weight and improving his upper body strength. He has increased his range on the perimeter as far as shooting the ball with confidence. I think he’s primed to have a very, very good year. We’re going to look for leadership from Lamont this year. As a senior he’s been through the league, he knows the talent level and how tough it is. He’s going to have to help lead some of the younger guys coming in.”

As a Junior in 2005-06: An honorable mention All-BIG EAST selection and a second team All-Met selection by the Metropolitan Basketball Writers Association … averaged team-highs of 12.6 points, 7.6 rebounds and 1.2 blocks per game … finished eighth in the BIG EAST in rebounding and led St. John’s to a team rebounding margin of +6.9 boards per game, which ranked eighth in the nation … averaged a team-leading 12.9 ppg in BIG EAST contests … led the squad with seven double-doubles and 19 double-figure scoring games … joined Eugene Lawrence as the only Red Storm player to start all 27 contests … finished the season 15-for-31 from 3-point range, leading the Red Storm with a .484 shooting percentage from long range … averaged 16.4 points and 10.8 rebounds and posted three doubles-doubles over the last five games of the season … posted his seventh double-double of the season with 15 points and 11 rebounds at then-No. 4/4 Villanova (March 1) ... also added a blocked shot and two steals in 38 minutes … had a big night in the team’s win over Seton Hall (Feb. 21), scoring 19 points on 7-of-13 shooting, grabbing 15 rebounds, blocking three shots and recording three steals in a season-high 38 minutes … led the Red Storm to a hard-fought road victory at Rutgers (Feb. 15), shooting 7-for-15 and contributing double-double numbers of 19 points and 14 boards … went 9-for-16 from the floor, scored 18 points and grabbed 11 rebounds (all in the second half) in posting his fourth double-double of the season against then-No. 9 West Virginia (Jan. 29) ... part of the Jan. 23 BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll after averaging 19.5 points, 6.5 rebounds and 2.0 three’s in wins over then-No. 17/15 Louisville (Jan. 17) and then-No. 9/9 Pittsburgh (Jan. 21) … tied a career-high with 24 points and pulled down eight rebounds (six offensive) in 37 minutes against then-No. 9/9 Pittsburgh ... went 9-of-19 from the floor, 2-of-3 from 3-point range and scored four points in the final :31.3 to help seal the win … during the postseason, was given the 2005-06 MBWA Madison Square Garden Outstanding Performance Award for his effort against the Panthers … averaged 11.5 ppg vs. UMass and Columbia to help the Red Storm capture the 2005 Holiday Festival (Dec. 27-28) … scored 11 with 13 rebounds against Marist at MSG (Dec. 17) … poured in 18 points, added 11 rebounds and four blocks vs. Hofstra in Carnesecca Arena (Nov. 29) … pulled down a career-high 17 rebounds, to go along with 15 points, three steals and a block in a win over Niagara (Nov. 29) … averaged 11.4 ppg during a summer tour of the Bahamas with a group of Northeastern NCAA All-Stars, helping the squad to a 7-0 record … recipient of the St. John’s Basketball Reggie Carter “Hustle Award” for his hard work on and off the court.

As a Sophomore in 2004-05: A third team All-Met selection … the only player to start all 27 games for the Red Storm ... averaged 13.3 points per game, good for second on the squad, on 50.4 percent  shooting … led the team with 7.5 rebounds and averaged 7.5 boards during BIG EAST play as well ... reached double-figures in scoring 19 times last season, netting 20 or more points five times and notching five double-doubles … recorded first career double-double with a career-high 24 points and 11 rebounds against Virginia Tech (Dec. 8) … second career double-double came with 14 points and 13 rebounds against Boston College (Jan. 22) ... first of two back-to-back double-doubles came with 14 points and 11 rebounds vs. Seton Hall (Jan. 29) … set three then-career-highs in a double-double effort against Rutgers (Feb. 2) – 16 rebounds and five assists in 39 minutes … also scored 16 points vs. the Scarlet Knights … fifth double-double of the season came at Providence (March 1) with 14 points and 10 rebounds … amassed 20 points and grabbed nine rebounds at Hofstra (Dec. 11) ... poured in 21 points with five rebounds in a win vs. Canisius (Dec. 28) ... dropped 20 points on 7-of-12 shooting against Syracuse (Jan. 5) ... posted 15 points on 6-for-10 shooting with six boards at West Virginia (Jan. 8) ... registered 17 points, connecting on 7-of-16 shots from the field, and grabbed eight rebounds at Notre Dame (Jan. 15) ... connected on 7-of-13 shots from the field and scored 18 points with seven rebounds in a win over No. 21 Pittsburgh (Jan. 18) ... tallied 14 points at Georgetown (Jan. 25) ... notched 17 points with seven boards against West Virginia (Feb. 16) ... scored 15 points with a career-high five blocks against Duke (Feb. 26) ... netted 20 points, connecting on 6-of-10 shots from the field and all eight of his free throw attempts, and grabbed six boards against Villanova (March 5) … averaged 11.0 points, 7.6 rebounds and 2.1 blocks per game during a seven-game tour of the United Kingdom with the NIT All-Stars over the summer of 2005.

As a Freshman in 2003-04: Appeared in 18 games, earning four starts … led the team with 20 blocks ... Averaged 5.9 points per game while shooting 44.3 percent from the field … was second in free-throw percentage at 67.5 percent (27-for-40) ... scored eight points off the bench in his St. John’s debut vs. Marquette (Nov. 3), adding six rebounds and three blocks ... pulled down a team-high nine rebounds in his first career start vs. Fairfield (Nov. 24), also chipping in seven points and four blocks ... posted eight points and a team-high nine rebounds and three blocks in a win vs. St. Francis (N.Y.) ...  netted eight points off the bench in his first BIG EAST conference game at Syracuse (Jan. 7) ... scored a team and season-high 14 points vs. Seton Hall (Jan. 10), while also grabbing eight rebounds and blocking two shots.

At Bridgton Academy: Spent a half-year at Bridgton Academy (Maine), where he averaged 12.0 points, 8.0 rebounds and 3.0 assists per game … led the team to the league semifinals and a 25-7 record … was a teammate of former Florida State standout Alexander Johnson … Bridgton is the same school that produced former Syracuse standout Lawrence Moten … spent a year and a half at Milford (Conn.) Academy … averaged 15.0 points and 9.0 rebounds at Milford … played AAU ball with the Long Island Panthers … attended Bishop Ford High School in Brooklyn for two years, averaging 6.6 points per game as a junior.

Personal: Lamont Alexander Hamilton … born on April 6, 1984 in Brooklyn, N.Y. … son of Ramona Hamilton … has three brothers, Dawan Richardson (29), Lance Hamilton (26) and Terrel Wyre (16) … lists his mother, his brothers and his father as the most influential people in his career … came to St. John’s to honor the memory of his late uncle, Thomas Lamont Richardson, a native of Far Rockaway, Queens, who was a big St. John’s fan growing up and dreamed of seeing his nephew attend the University … majoring in sports management.
