On Jasiulionis: A tough, determined competitor with great size and a tremendous wingspan … a skillful for a big man who can post up inside and also step out and hit the 3-pointer … displays a full array of post moves and can shoot over both shoulders … can wall opponents on defense and is a good shot-blocker … pronounced “TAH-miss YES-uh-low-niss.”

Norm Roberts on Jasiulionis: “Tomas has really improved his explosiveness as well as his body. He has really worked hard in the weight room and improved his ability to get up off the floor. He is extremely skilled. He is a guy that can face up to the basket and has a power game inside. We are going to look for Tomas to have more of a role this year inside. He has done a better job of rebounding the basketball and is becoming more of a physical presence every day.”

As a Freshman in 2005-06: Saw action in 21 games and averaged 1.1 points, 0.6 rebounds and 7.0 minutes per outing … grabbed a career-high tying two rebounds and blocked one shot in 13 minutes in the season finale against Rutgers (March 5) … tied his career-best with four points and grabbed one rebound at then-No. 15 Georgetown (Feb. 9) … recorded a career-high two steals in 10 minutes at Providence (Feb. 4) … played a career-high 21 minutes at then-No. 1 UConn (Jan. 25), scoring four points, blocking three shots and grabbing two rebounds … grabbed a career-high two rebounds and blocked one shot in eight minutes against Louisville (Jan. 17) … scored two points and blocked one shot in nine minutes at South Florida (Jan. 14) … recorded one point and blocked two shots in six minutes against Columbia (Dec. 27) … connected on his first career field goal, grabbed a rebound and recorded his first career steal at then-No. 1 Duke (Dec. 21) … saw his first action of the season in a win over Charleston Southern (Dec. 3) … knocked down a pair of free throws, grabbed a rebound and blocked a shot in six minutes in his debut game … recipient of the Lawrence R. Thomsen Memorial Award at the St. John’s annual athletics banquet, recognizing him as the men’s basketball player who made “the most improvement athletically during the school year.”

At Trinity Episcopal School: Earned two varsity letters as a junior and senior at Trinity Episcopal and was named the team MVP during both of those seasons … averaged 20.0 points per game, 14.0 rebounds and four blocks in his final season … was an all-state selection in 2005 and also earned all-metro and All-Prep League Conference honors … was an all-conference selection as a junior as well … high school coach was Mike Lokie … participated for his native Lithuania in the European Under-20 Basketball Championships, which were held in Moscow during summer 2005.

Personal: Tomas Jasiulionis … born on Jan. 11, 1986, in Lithuania … lived in Lithuania from birth to age 17 and moved to the United States for his education and a chance to play NCAA Division I basketball … son of Rima and Algis Jasiulionis … has one brother, Teisutis (26) … a member of the National Honor Society and was selected to the Headmaster’s list in high school … lists St. John’s basketball tradition as a major reason for his interest in attending the University … interested in majoring in business.
