On Torres: A guard with great size, excellent
skills and a renowned jump shot … reputed as one of New York City’s
best high school shooters in recent memory … possesses a high

As a Freshman in 2005-06: Appeared 23 games,
averaging 3.4 points and 1.0 rebounds in 9.3 minutes … averaged 6.9
points and 1.6 rebounds in 15.1 minutes over the final seven games
of the season … knocked down 4-of-8 shots and scored nine points in
St. John’s season finale against Rutgers (March 5), including a
3-pointer, two rebounds and one assist … went 2-of-6 from the floor
and 3-of-3 from the free throw line in scoring seven points in a
win over Seton Hall (Feb. 21) ... also set a career-high with two
steals and dished out one assist in 16 minutes against the Pirates
… set a new career-high with 12 points on 5-of-11 shooting in a
career-high 22 minutes against DePaul (Feb. 18) ... also added two
offensive rebounds in the matchup with the Blue Demons and two
3-pointers … recorded 18 minutes at Rutgers (Feb. 15) and scored
six points on 3-of-7 shooting … knocked down 2-of-6 shots and
1-of-3 three-points in scoring five points against Syracuse (Feb.
12) … scored six points, grabbed a career-high three rebounds and
recorded a steal in 14 minutes at then-No. 15 Georgetown (Feb. 9) …
contributed two points and grabbed two rebounds in 12 minutes
against then-No. 9 West Virginia (Jan. 29) … played 14 minutes in
his first career BIG EAST game against Georgetown (Jan. 8), scoring
two points to go along with two assists and one rebound … grabbed
two rebounds and recorded a steal in eight minutes against Columbia
(Dec. 27) … netted a career-high 10 points on 4-of-6 shooting,
including 2-of-3 from beyond the arc, in 17 minutes against Stony
Brook (Dec. 7) … went 4-of-4 from the free throw line in scoring
four points against Charleston Southern (Dec. 3) … hit 1-of-2 from
3-point range, scoring three points and grabbing one rebound
against Niagara (Nov. 26) … scored three points, grabbed one
rebound and dished out two assists in his collegiate debut against
UMES (Nov. 19).
At St. Raymond’s High School: A three-year
varsity letterwinner at St. Ray’s … rated a top 100 prospect by
several recruiting publications … averaged 18.0 points per game as
a senior, shooting 43.0 percent from the floor and 39 percent from
long range … was a second team all-league selection in the Catholic
High School Athletic Association (CHSAA) and a second team all-city
honoree by the Daily News, New York Post and Newsday … scored 30
points against Christ the King in the 2005 CHSAA playoffs … led his
team to back to back CHSAA championships during his sophomore and
junior years … averaged 14 ppg as a junior … high school coach was
Oliver Antigua.
