QUEENS, N.Y.
Red Storm junior attackman Tom
Michaelsen earned a spot among the ECAC’s elite as
conference officials announced the All-League teams on May 8.
Michaelsen was named to the 2007 All-ECAC Second Team for his 37
point performance at attack this season. The Bethpage, N.Y., native
is the lone representative for the Red Storm on the list.
The junior is the first St. John’s player to grace the
All-League list since joining the ECAC in 2005.
The Bethpage High School alum led the Red Storm in all three
offensive categories with 22 goals, 15 assists and 37 points.
Michaelsen finished the season ranked No. 50 in the NCAA in points
per game (2.85) and assists per game (1.15), and No. 54 in goals
per game (1.69).
Conference-wise, Michaelsen ranked in the top eight for all
three offensive categories in all game played (ECAC and
non-league). He earned ECAC weekly honors three teams as an honor
roll mention: March 26, April 2 and April 23.
Michaelsen had five hat tricks this season, doubling his prior
career total; and scored a season-best effort of five points in
three of the five Red Storm victories: Quinnipiac (March 13), Siena
College (March 21) and Hobart (Apr. 21). He also earned a point in
12 consecutive games for the Red Storm.
Career-wise, Michaelsen sits at No. 9 on the St. John’s All-Time
Leading Scorer list with 93 points, 60 goals and 33 assists.
The Red Storm finished the season 5-8 overall and 2-5 in the
ECAC. St. John’s was 4-1 at home, a complete turn-around from
2006’s 1-5 record at DaSilva Memorial.
