During my time as student-athlete at Bowling Green State University, our head football coach once said, "If you are not getting better, you are getting worse. There is no staying the same."
This message resonated with me and throughout my adult life it has served as a personal and professional motto. As an organization, the St. John's University Athletics Department has adopted this advice to serve as a reminder each and every day to strive to get better in everything that we do.
With this being said, I want to acknowledge and thank the countless number of alumni and fans who support enhancing the St. John's student-athlete experience. Without your generosity, we would not be able to make advancements, such as our most recent renovation of the Taffner Field House Strength & Conditioning Room (Photo Gallery), that benefit our student-athlete development program and contribute to our teams' successes.
An investment in our young men and women affords them the opportunity to pursue their goals on and off the field of play.
As our training facilities continue to improve, so do our teams. The strength and conditioning facility renovation was the first of many improvements you can anticipate for St. John's Athletics in the future. However, in order to gain a competitive advantage, both in the BIG EAST Conference and on the national level, we need your help.
If you have already donated to the Red White Club or supported one of our many special events this year, THANK YOU! If you have yet to give, now is the time. We've made it very simple: just visit https://athleticsgiving.stjohns.edu, and don't forget to tell your classmates, family, friends and colleagues.
To elevate St. John's Athletics to new heights never before attained, it will take all of our support. Every gift counts.
It is my goal for all 17 of our athletic programs to compete regularly for BIG EAST and National Championships.
So let this serve as the official invite for all of Johnnie Nation to Embrace Excellence!
I look forward to seeing you at home and road games rooting for the Red Storm with me.
