2011-12: Redshirted the season to train for the 2012 Olympics in London ... Placed sixth in the Oympics men's individual saber event, which was the highest finish by an American ... To reach the quarterfinals, he defeated the World's No. 2 ranked fencer Alexey Yakimenko of Team Russia ... Placed eighth in the Olympics men's team saber event ... Ranked No. 1 in the U.S. and No. 12 in the World after Olympic play ... Prior to qualifying for the Olympics, he won gold at the December North American Cup in Kansas City, Mo. ... Earned a gold medal with Team USA at the Pan American Championships ... won bronze as a team at the Moscow World Cup ... Post St. John's:
 Homer made his second-straight Summer Games, competitng for Team USA at the 2016 Rio Olympics. The Bronx, N.Y., native took home the silver medal in the men's individual saber to become the first Johnny to win an Olympic medal since Keeth Smart in 2008. Homer became just the fourth American ever to earn an Olympic medal in individual saber and the first since 1984.
