Red Storm Go Unbeaten at Brandeis Invitational To Open 2010-11 Season|

WALTHAM, MASS. - The St. John's fencing team opened the 2010-11 by going undefeated at the Brandeis Invitational on Saturday. The women posted a record of 6-0 on the day, while the men finished 5-0.
The Red Storm men opened the day by defeated host Brandeis by a score of 22-5. They followed that performance by defeating MIT (18-9), Yale (16-11), Brown (18-9) and Boston College (18-9). On the women's side, STJ started the season with an 18-9 victory over Brandeis. They then beat MIT (19-8), Yale (20-7), Cornell (20-7), Brown (19-8) and Boston College (24-3).
St. John's returns to action on January 14 at the NAC-Division 1 Junior in Dallas, Texas. Last season, the Red Storm finished second at the NCAA Championships. STJ has not finished lower than sixth place in the nation since 1993. As a team, St. John's has one national championship (2001) and five second-place finishes (1995, 2000, 2002, 2007, 2010).
