QUEENS, N.Y. - A Jesse Berardi go-ahead RBI single in the seventh inning completed a comeback from a two-run first-inning deficit as St. John's picked up its fourth-straight win with a 3-2 victory against Saint Peter's. Matt Harris went 2-for-4 with a solo home run and Zach Lauricella went 2-for-4 with a run scored to help lead St. John's (10-8), while Berardi finished 1-for-3. Kevin Magee (1-2) had four strikeouts in 3.2 innings of scoreless relief for the win. Nick Ciocco finished 2-for-5 with a double for Saint Peter's (1-12) and Nathaniel Leon (0-1) took the loss after allowing one run in 2.0 innings of relief.

Saint Peter's scored its only two runs of the game in the top of the first inning after Ciocco set the table with a leadoff double. A groundout moved Ciocco to third before Nick Henriquez was plunked to set up runners on the corners. After a wild pitch brought home Ciocco and moved Henriquez to second, Rob Moore singled through the right side. Moore then stole second base, while Henriquez swiped home on the throw to give the Peacocks a 2-0 lead.

After Ryan McCormick came on and worked a scoreless second, St. John's got on the board in the bottom of the frame as Lauricella started things with a bunt single. A Harris single through the right side then gave the Red Storm runners on the corners before Robert Wayman made it a 2-1 ballgame with a sacrifice fly into right field.

McCormick had two strikeouts in a 1-2-3 third and added two more strikeouts in a scoreless fourth.

St. John's loaded the bases in the bottom of the fourth, but stranded all three runners. Lauricella led off with a single before Wayman drew a one-out walk. Troy Dixon was then plunked with two outs to load the bases, but a foul popup ended the inning.

The Red Storm went back to the bullpen and Magee worked a 1-2-3 fifth frame before adding a 1-2-3 sixth.

The Red Storm then used the long ball to pull even in the bottom of the sixth as Harris turned on the first pitch of his at-bat and launched a solo home run to right field.

Magee added two strikeouts in a 1-2-3 seventh frame to retire his first nine batters.

St. John's then took its first lead of the game with a run in the seventh against the Saint Peter's bullpen. Ty Blankmeyer greeted Leon with a leadoff single up the middle before advancing all the way to third on an Alex Caruso sacrifice bunt. Berardi then gave the Red Storm a 3-2 lead with an RBI single into shallow left center.

Saint Peter's threatened in the eighth as Ciocco led off with a bunt single before Mike Ionta singled to right center to give the Peacocks two on with no outs. Magee then rolled a 6-4-3 double play and St. John's went to the bullpen with a runner on third and two outs. Matt Clancy entered and plunked Moore before Thomas Hackimer ended the inning with a strikeout.

Hackimer quickly retired the first two batters in the ninth before Kyle Grimes walked and Sean Henry beat out an infield single. Hackimer, however, got a strikeout to end the game and earn the save.

The Red Storm continues its homestand on March 25 with a 3 p.m. game against Hofstra.
