St. John's Baseball Tops FDU, 12-10|

QUEENS, N.Y. - Four different players had multi-RBI games to lead the St. John's baseball team past FDU, 12-10. Jimmy Parque had three hits and two RBI, while Joe Witkowski was 3-for-3 with two RBI to lead St. John's (25-15). Carlos Del Rosario had three RBI and Tim Morris added two RBI. Zachary Sand was 5-for-6 with four RBI to pace FDU (10-27).
In the bottom of the first, Parque extended his hitting streak to 20 games with a double into right field. After moving to third on a fly out, Parque scored on a Paul Karmas RBI single through the left side. Matt Wessinger followed with an RBI single into center field and St. John's led 2-0.
After retiring the first two batters in the second, Miguel Valcarcel (1-0) loaded the bases with a single, a walk and a single. The righty ended the threat, however, with a strikeout.
St. John's added a run in the second. Witkowski doubled to lead off the inning and advanced on a fly out. Parque gave St. John's a 3-0 lead with an RBI single into right center field.
Joe Panik doubled into right center field to open a one-run third After advancing on a sacrifice bunt, Panik scored on a Del Rosario sacrifice fly.
FDU got on the board in the fourth inning after Vincent Pennachio, Mike Eliasen and Jeff Vincent loaded the bases with consecutive singles. After Matt Maher lined a two-run single into the gap in right center, Matt Holsman grounded a slow roller towards the mound. Reliever Steve Forster threw home and catcher Witkowski applied the tag for the first out. Sand followed with an RBI groundout and FDU trailed 4-3.
Wessinger singled with one out in the fifth to open a five-run inning. Del Rosario followed with an RBI double and stole third before scoring on a Witkowski RBI single through the right side. After Brian Kemp drew a walk, Parque sent an RBI single through the right side. St. John's took a 9-3 lead as Morris plated a pair of runs with a double to the wall in left field.
Vincent drew a lead off walk in the sixth, but was erased on a fielder's choice. After a groundout advanced the runner to second, Sand singled through the left side to plate a run. Joe Martino then lined a two-run single up the middle before Ryan Kresky followed with an RBI single into left field and FDU trailed 9-7.
St. John's added two runs in the sixth after back-to-back two-out RBI doubles by Del Rosario and Witkowski gave the Red Storm an 11-7 lead.
FDU plated two runs in the seventh as Matt Holsman added an RBI groundout and Sand followed with an RBI double.
The Knights made it a 12-10 game in the ninth as Sand added an RBI single.
St. John's will travel to Seton Hall for a three-game BIG EAST set beginning on May 1.
