QUEENS, N.Y. - On the heels of a stellar sophomore campaign that saw him tie the program's single-season wins record, Sean Mooney has garnered Third Team All-America honors from Perfect Game.

Mooney, who was named a Freshman All-American by the publication a season ago, claims his second All-America honor of 2018, having already earned a second team selection from Collegiate Baseball. The sophomore right hander from Marmora, N.J., put forth a terrific effort during his second season in red and white, going 11-3 with a 2.56 ERA in 16 starts. He became just the third pitcher in program history to win 11 games in a season, joining Ryan McCormick (2015) and Tom Sowinski (1968).

Mooney is also a finalist for the National Pitcher of the Year Award, marking the second-straight year in which he has been named one of the five finalists for the prestigious accolade handed out by the College Baseball Foundation.

Mooney struck out 104 batters on the year, good enough for eighth on the St. John's single-season record list in that category. He also surrendered just 28 walks in 95.0 innings of work while holding opponents to a .211 batting average.

With just two years under his belt, Mooney already ranks ninth on the program's career strikeouts list and is just one victory away from entering the career top 10 in wins.
