QUEENS, N.Y. -
Brad Bellinger racked up five strikeouts in 3.0 scoreless innings, Martin Kelly went 2-for-4 with a three-run home run and Black broke open the game with a six-run seventh inning to defeat Red, 9-1, in the seven-inning game one of the Intrasquad World Series. Matt Wessinger and Eric Peterson had two RBI apiece for Black, while Jeremy Baltz, Dan Bethea and Julien Plana added two hits apiece. Zach Lauricella was 2-for-2 with an RBI for Red, while Kyle Richardson was 2-for-4.
James Lomangino had two strikeouts in the top of the first inning, but gave up a three-run home run in the top of the second inning as Black jumped out to a 3-0 lead. Following a leadoff single by Bethea and a two-out bunt single by Plana, Kelly launched a three-run home run to give Black the 3-0 advantage.
Red tried to answer in the bottom of the second as an error and a walk set up runners on first and second with one out, but Bellinger used a pair of strikeouts to end the inning.
Red did answer in the fourth inning, plating a run against Kevin Kilpatrick to make it a 3-1 game. Michael Bradshaw drew a one-out walk before being chased home by a Lauricella double. Kilpatrick, however, retired the next two batters to strand Lauricella at second.

Frank Schwindel was intentionally walked with one out before Anthony Iacomini plated Wessinger, who had stolen second and third base, to chase Christopher and give Black a 6-1 lead. Schwindel later scored on a passed ball before Peterson made it 9-1 with a two-run single.
