QUEENS, N.Y. - This year's Bullpen Winter Banquet will welcome home a legendary name in the proud history of the St. John's Baseball, as former Red Storm standout and World Series Champion Joe Panik will headline the program's annual fundraiser at Edison Ballroom on Feb. 6.

The last Johnnie to be selected in the first round of the MLB Draft, Panik will be joined on stage by the program's highest-ever draft pick, as current Texas Rangers color analyst CJ Nitkowski will serve as the evening's emcee.

Having recently completed his fourth Major League season with the San Francisco Giants, Panik has solidified a reputation as one of the MLB's top young infielders. As a 23-year-old rookie in 2014, Panik played a key role in leading the Giants to a World Series title, hitting .305 with 18 RBIs and finishing sixth in the National League Rookie of the Year voting. He started and batted second in all seven World Series games for the Giants in 2014, tallying six hits and three RBIs over that stretch.

The following season, Panik earned his first All-Star selection, batting .312 with eight home runs, 37 RBIs and an .833 OPS in 100 games.

The awards continued to roll in for Panik in 2016, as the Hopewell Junction, N.Y., native took home Gold Glove honors for the first time at the conclusion of the campaign.

This past season, Panik rebounded from a down year at the plate by hitting .288 with 10 home runs, 53 RBIs and a career-best 43 extra-base hits. The highlight of his season came in early September, when he tied a franchise record with 12 hits in a single series against the Rockies, including a 5-for-6 showing in the finale.

The 29th overall pick of 2011 MLB Draft, Panik led the Red Storm to three winning seasons, two NCAA Tournament appearances and a BIG EAST Championship during his tenure in Queens. Undrafted out of high school, Panik turned in a .370 career batting average, good enough for second in St. John's history. Despite playing only three seasons, Panik ranks ninth on the program's career hits list (237), while also ranking in the top 10 in runs scored, doubles, triples, home runs, RBIs and walks.

Cocktail hour will begin at 6 p.m. with dinner and the evening's program set to commence at 7 p.m. Tickets are available at the cost of $375 per person, but tables of 10 can be purchased for $3,500. St. John's Baseball graduates of the past decade can secure tickets to the event for $325.
