- Team Notes

  • St. John's scored just 19 points in the first half, its lowest output in either half since also scoring 19 in the first half of a 76-54 loss to Cincinnati on Feb. 8, 2012, and finished with a season-low 51 points in the game.
  • The Red Storm shot just 35.6 percent (21-of-59) from the floor, its second-straight game below 36.0 percent, and is now 0-5 on the year when being outshot from the floor by its opposition.
  • St. John's started the game 0-for-12 from beyond the arc before going 3-of-4 in the final 2:11 to finish 3-of-16 (18.8 percent) for the game. The Red Storm is just 7-of-40 (17.5 percent) from long range in the past three games.
  • St. John's finished just 6-of-16 (37.5 percent) from the charity stripe and is shooting just 48.8 percent (21-of-43) from the line in the past two games.
  • St. John's, which entered the game averaging 11.3 turnovers, turned the ball over 11 times, its fewest in four BIG EAST games this season.

    Individual Notes

  • Jamal Branch scored a career-high 16 points on a 7-of-11 performance from the floor. The sophomore has scored in double-figures in two of his last three games and is averaging 9.7 points in BIG EAST action.
  • JaKarr Sampson finished with 12 points to reach double-figures for the third-straight game. Sampson grabbed seven rebounds and is averaging a team-best 6.3 boards in four BIG EAST games.
  • Chris Obekpa had six swats to set a new single-season school-record for blocks with 82. Obekpa entered the game with 76 blocks, which matched the school-record of 76 set by Walter Berry in 1985-86. Obekpa also grabbed a team-high 10 boards and is averaging 10.0 rebounds in the past three contests.
  • Sir'Dominic Pointer reached double-figures for the second-straight game and fourth time this season with an 11-point performance. Pointer had a team-high four assists and also made his first 3-pointer of the season and is now 1-of-3 from distance on the year.
  • D'Angelo Harrison was held to a season-low seven points. Harrison, who had scored in double-figures in 29-straight games, was last held below 10 points on Jan. 18, 2012 at USF.
