Head Coach Norm Roberts
Opening Statement:
“It was a great game. Both teams played hard. They got the ball last and made a great shot. Jimmy Butler is a terrific player.”

On the late strip by Malik Boothe:
“The ball was still loose and it wasn’t in our hands yet. Anything can happen there.”

On advice for his team going forward:
“We will continue to play the way we have been playing. We will win our share. Some will go our way. We have to continue to play hard.”

On his team’s last few possessions:
“We were trying to get the ball inside and they did a good job of crowding us in there. We wanted to get it to D. J. Kennedy in the lane so we could get a foul.”

On Malik Boothe’s game-tying 3-pointer at the end of regulation:
“It was a huge play for Malik and a great shot. I am happy for him. It was a great pass by D. J. and great execution.”

On moving on from a tough loss:
“I am always proud of my guys. The object is to win and we didn’t win the game. We have to fight back and be resilient. These guys are a good group with a lot of character. We will come back tomorrow and practice hard. This is life in the BIG EAST.”

Junior Guard D. J. Kennedy
On the buzzer-beater:

“I think this was the hardest game to lose. I’d rather lose by 20 points than a buzzer beater. We played hard the whole game and it was a hail-mary shot that ended it.”

On Boothe’s 3-pointer:
“I had to make a play. I was able to split the defense and find him open in the corner for the 3-pointer.”

Senior Guard Anthony Mason Jr.
On the tight game against Marquette:

“Everyone gave it their all. It’s disappointing, but everyone played as hard as they could. Everyone went hard and took it to overtime. A few unfinished plays and missed rebounds made the difference.”

On his thoughts as Marquette’s final shot was release:
“I was hoping the shot was too late. I am going to get ready for the next game. You can’t dwell on it.”

Marquette Head Coach Buzz Williams
On the teams fortitude:
“Any time you go on the road, there are so many things stacked against you. When you don’t make shots, you make it tremendously hard to give yourself a chance. Our guys are extremely brave. Their character is as good as anyone that I’ve been around. I think that fortune favors the brave. If you look at all the type of games we been in, the 09-10 Marquette basketball team definitely took the road less traveled”

On Coach Norm Roberts:
“I’ve known Coach Roberts since he’s been at Oral Roberts. I don’t think he gets enough credit for how hard his team plays. We didn’t make shots, but it wasn’t because we were shooting to miss, it was because of the pressure they were applying defensively. I think his team plays extremely hard and they play as a team. Every single one of his players that played in the game scored. That says they’re playing together and they’re playing hard for their coach.”
