Head Coach Steve Lavin
“Clearly there are a number of aspects, both offensively and defensively, that we have to clean up. While that’s discouraging, the good news is they are correctable flaws. Postgame we went down the list of areas that we need to improve upon, yet the kids deserve some credit for having the resourcefulness to find a way to win when things weren’t going well for us, and that’s an important trait. Coach Wooden always said he’d rather be ahead than behind, rather be lucky than unlucky and would rather win than lose.”
On Rysheed Jordan:
"There were a number of areas that he can improve upon, but defensively he was impressive. I think it was a step in the right direction, but naturally there are areas to improve upon."
On looking towards the regular season:
"We're still two or three months away from our best basketball, but I think we can surprise some people along the way."
On preparing for Wisconsin:
"We're going to get ready to play and compete. We'll have a better idea of ourselves after that game."
Junior Guard D'Angelo Harrison
On San Francisco State's performance:
"We credit San Francisco for playing a tough game. I think it's better than us shutting out a team. You have to give them credit they had a game plan, they executed and played a great game."
On Rysheed Jordan:
"Rysheed plays at a pace that people are trying to master. His productions made at his first game in Carneseca shows that he is going to be a great player and I'm excited to play along side of him."
Junior Forward/Guard Sir'Dominic Pointer
On today's performance:
"I feel good that they came ready to play. It showed us that we have to come ready to play and play hard every time."
On being concerned after this game:
"I wouldn't say we're concerned but, I would say we have to get back to the drawing board, get back into the gym and prepare for the next game. We have to get prepared for Wisconsin and we can't get too cocky."
San Francisco Head Coach Paul Trevor
On tonight's game:
"It was a great exhibition game. I hope coach Lavin and St. John's got a lot out of that. Tuning them up for the BIG EAST and for the rest of the season. For us, it was a great experience. Our guys came out and played hard. We have a lot of seniors and they really showed a lot of resiliency tonight. They kept coming back and competing at a high level and I couldn't be more proud."
