Head Coach Steve Lavin
Opening statement:

“Clearly, it was a disjointed game. I thought there were some bright spots defensively with the 15 blocks, so there were some positives on that side of the ball. Offensively we never found a rhythm. It’s good when you win a game when you’re not playing your best."

On what he’s taken from the last two games:

“Each year there are three or four teams that blitz through the competition from start to finish of the season. The rest of the teams in country you can throw in a hat and what will determine their degree of success is how much progress they make over the course of the season. The teams that improve the most between tonight and the middle of March are the ones that best position themselves for a post season run."

On Rysheed Jordan:

“I’m happy he’s back with the team. I think he handled the suspension in a mature fashion and came back to work with the right attitude. He’s emblematic of our team, always trying to get better.”

Sophomore Forward JaKarr Sampson:

On tonight’s performance:

"Offensively, we played pretty bad. We shot 37.3 percent from the field. Defensively, I feel like we played good. We held them to under 40 percent."

On Rysheed Jordan:

"You can't keep a really good player down too long. He's a really good player. He's a really good freshman for us. He works hard every day, getting used to the game, getting used to the pace of the game. He's going to be alright."

Junior Guard D'Angelo Harrison

On Rysheed Jordan

"He had a better game today. He's just going to keep getting better from here.  He's a great player. I don't think anybody has really seen what he is capable of.  We see it at practice but he is still trying to adjust like JaKarr [Sampson] said. Everybody will see him really soon.”

On the new rules:

"The way our team is built and set up, we have guys that penetrate so the rules are in our favor. We have guys that slash in the rim, I think the whole team. We like the new rules, we get to shoot a lot of free throws. We just have to make them.”

Junior Guard/Forward Sir'Dominic Pointer

On Rysheed Jordan:

"I feel he is coming along each and every game, bouncing back from sitting out a game.  He had a good game tonight.  Right now the game is at a really fast pace for him. We have a lot of guys on this team in their junior and senior year and the game is just slowed down for them. Once that happens, in a couple of more games, he'll be alright.  He's going to get to the basket because that's what he does.”

Head Coach Jayson Gee

Thoughts on the game:

"I thought our kids really competed. We're not out for a joy ride. We're trying to compete and find a way to win. We try to put together a game plan that prepares us for winning and I felt that our guys bought into it. What I was really impressed with was that our guys didn't feel sorry for themselves. We played without our leading scorer who leads us in a lot of categories and they came out and fought. I was impressed with St. John's. Obviously, their size and athleticism were very impressive. Their blocked shots, I thought, impacted the game. I got to give them credit. They played good."
