St. John's Head Coach Chris Mullin...

On today's outcome:

"A win is a win so we could be happy about that, but we've got to improve in a lot of different areas. We just need to keep working at [improving]."

On the team's confidence level:

"I think they're [confidence level is] fine. You have to understand most of these guys are freshmen or in this country for the first time. That doesn't mean we don't keep working, but you look at the facts and it kind of makes sense."

On Yankuba Sima's foul trouble affecting the game:

"He picked up some fouls [early on], but we should've been able to play with the guys that were in there. Of course we want Sima in there, but the other guys should be able to come in and do their job."

On the team's shooting:

"Our guys know if they have open shots they're free to shoot. I'd rather have shots than turnovers so I'm not opposed to us shooting the basketball."

RS Junior Forward Christian Jones...

On the team's confidence level:

"I think with these wins our confidence level is improving. We know that we have to play better because we are playing better teams, but that shouldn't scare us. We just have to keep our composure and play our game."

On the free throw shooting down the stretch:

"When it comes to free throws [down the stretch], you shouldn't think about the pressure because that's when you miss. You should think about making the free throws because knowing that you can make it is key."

Freshman Guard Federico Mussini...

On how the team can limit turnovers:

"We need to be stronger with the ball. We can't panic when other teams press us. Everyone needs to help each other."

On breaking out of the scoring drought midway through the second half:

"I always have confidence in my shot because I know that it is not useful to lose confidence. Sometimes the offense is not going to be there, but the important thing is we stayed locked up on defense. That is why we won."

Niagara Head Coach Chris Casey...

On his team's performance:

"I thought our guys played very, very hard. We defended and rebounded well. Offensively, we have to continue to work on getting better. We had a couple of open looks that we needed to knock down, but that will come. We have a good basis of how hard we're playing and we're showing some toughness. We need to build on that and as the year goes on we'll continue to improve offensively."

On Coach Carnesecca's words to him after the game:

"Coach Carnesecca came in to say hello to the team after the game. It was so good to see him. He was an outstanding basketball coach, but also one of the best men the world has ever produced. So he just wanted to come in and tell our guys good game, we played hard and go get the next one."
