Following Heroics In STJ's Win Over Duke, Hardy Named To BIG EAST Honor Roll|

QUEENS, N.Y. - One day after leading St. John’s to a thrilling 93-78 victory over then-No. 3/3 Duke, St. John’s senior guard Dwight Hardy was named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll for the week ending Jan. 30 as announced by the conference on Monday.
For the week, Hardy averaged 18.0 points, 4.0 rebounds and 1.5 assists per game after shooting 44.8 percent (13-of-29) from the field and 36.4 percent (4-of-11) from beyond the arc. He was also a perfect 6-of-6 at the free throw line.
In St. John’s win over the Blue Devils on Jan. 30, Hardy scored a team-high 26 points with three rebounds and three assists. Hardy also hit two big first-half 3-pointers that helped set the tone for the Red Storm victory. His 3-pointer at the 15:50 mark to put St. John’s ahead, 9-6, and the Red Storm held the lead for rest of the game. Hardy’s 3-pointer with 13:03 on the clock ignited the crowd and gave STJ a 16-10 advantage. The Blue Devils never got closer than six points for the rest of the game. Against Georgetown on Jan. 26, Hardy totaled 10 points and five rebounds.
This week’s honors marks the second time this season Hardy has been recognized by the BIG EAST for his outstanding play. On Jan. 3, Hardy became the first St. John’s player to earn BIG EAST Player of the Week honors since Daryll Hill was named BIG EAST Co-Player of the Week on Jan. 3, 2005. Earlier this season, classmate Justin Brownlee was named to the BIG EAST Honor Roll for the week ending Nov. 28.
The Red Storm received one vote in the AP Top 25 Poll released on Jan. 31.
St. John’s victory over Duke will be rebroadcasted tonight on CBS College at 9 p.m. The Red Storm next hosts BIG EAST rival Rutgers on Wednesday at 9 p.m. in Carnesecca Arena. The game will be televised locally on SNY.
