St. John’s Athletics Unveils New York Themed Brand Mark|
Aug. 25, 2017 QUEENS, N.Y. – Inspired by the University’s New York City roots and rich athletic tradition, the St. John’s Athletic Department unveiled its newest brand mark on Friday with the public release of its “We Are New York’s Team” logo. The logo reveal begins a multifaceted campaign with co-branded activation across a variety of print and digital platforms, featuring the official athletics logos and the “We Are New York’s Team” slogan. Through partnerships with Under Armour, Follett and Advanced-Online, a wide range of merchandise with the new mark is exclusively available inside the campus bookstore and online at RedStormShop.com.
St. John’s Athletics’ creative services and multimedia team crafted new imagery to help tell the Red Storm’s brand story with fresh graphics and a stimulating sizzle reel. The logo design incorporates the phrase “We Are New York’s Team,” which is prominently displayed with a stylistic font that represents metropolitan flavor, woven around St. John’s primary athletics mark.
For over 100 years, St. John’s has been a cornerstone of the New York City sports scene, beginning in 1907 with the inception of the basketball program on the original campus in Brooklyn. Today, the Red Storm sponsors 17 NCAA Division I Athletic programs that represent the University and its New York City heritage against top national competition. A charter member of the BIG EAST Conference, St. John’s has a passionate fan base within the five boroughs and beyond that support Red Storm teams at its home venues in Queens, as well as in Midtown Manhattan inside Madison Square Garden, a home court to St. John’s basketball for more than 85 years.
