QUEENS, N.Y. (Nov. 13, 2017) - Fresh off a 16-point victory over New Orleans on opening night, the St. John's men's basketball team will return to the hardwood on Tuesday to host Central Connecticut. Tip off is set for 6:30 p.m. inside Carnesecca Arena.

FS2 will carry the live national broadcast with FOX Sports announcers Dave Sims and Jim Spanarkel calling the action from Queens. The contest will also be streamed through FOX Sports GO. The St. John's IMG Radio broadcast featuring John Minko and Tarik Turner can be heard on 970 AM WNYM or TuneIn Radio.

The Red Storm enters Tuesday's contest with the Blue Devils looking to improve to 2-0 for the third time in as many years under head coach Chris Mullin. On Friday, St. John's picked up its first victory of the 2017-18 campaign rolling to a 77-61 win over New Orleans at Carnesecca Arena. Coming off a sensational rookie campaign last season, Marcus LoVett shined once again for the Red Storm in the opener, netting a game-high 23 points with a career-best five 3-pointers. The sophomore guard from Fort Wayne, Ind. helped St. John's take control of the game early and the Johnnies saw their lead grow as large as 22.

In addition to LoVett's stellar performance, fellow 2017 BIG EAST All-Freshman Team selection Shamorie Ponds filled up the stat sheet against New Orleans, finishing with 12 points, a team-high seven rebounds and six assists. Bashir Ahmed reached double figures as well scoring 10 points.

Marvin Clark II and Justin Simon delivered key performances in their St. John's debuts, as the highly touted transfers combined to shoot 9-for-12 from the field. Clark matched a career high by scoring 15 points and converted both of his 3-point attempts. Simon added nine points and four rebounds to the winning effort.

Tuesday's contest with Central Connecticut marks the second game of a four-game homestand at Carnesecca Arena. St. John's and Central Connecticut have met only once before, as the programs previously squared off in the Lapchick Tournament on Nov. 24, 1990. St. John's poured in a program record 135 points in the victory behind Malik Sealy's 43-point performance that broke Carnesecca Arena's, formerly Alumni Hall, single game scoring record.

Central Connecticut (0-2) is in search of its first victory of the 2017-18 campaign after falling by a combined five points in road games at Hartford and Rutgers. Junior guard Tyler Kohl, a 6-foot-5 transfer from Mineral Area College, was the Blue Devils' top scorer in both contests and owns a 21.5-point scoring average this season. Led by second year head coach Donyell Marshall, the Blue Devils also returned two of their top three scorers from last year in Austin Nehls (13.4 ppg) and Mustafa Jones (10.7 ppg).

After facing the Blue Devils, St. John's has a quick turnaround with Nebraska coming to Queens for a Thursday night showdown in the third annual Gavitt Tipoff Games. The unique eight game event between the BIG EAST and Big Ten Conferences was named in honor of Dave Gavitt, who had a profound and lasting influence on the sport of basketball on the collegiate, professional and Olympic levels. FS1 will carry the national broadcast beginning at 6:30 p.m.
