QUEENS, N.Y. -
Head Coach Norm Roberts
On matching up with Georgia tomorrow night
"Georgia is a team with a lot of talent. They have a lot of options, especially inside. They will keep hitting you with their big guys and try to go inside every possession. Post defense will be huge for us and we have to take away their angles to score."
On the team's performance against Duke
"We played hard against Duke and did some good things. We allowed them to take the lead and break free. They had a 9-0 run and got some cushion and that hurt us."
On Justin Burrell's injury and resulting lineup changes
"Our guys have to step up and that's why we practice hard. Dele Coke played very well against Duke and had a great mindset to play defense. Sean Evans played well and scored for us. He rebounded and defended. We just tell them to stay within their realm. Everyone can step up and we will be fine."
On Rob Thomas's return to the squad
"It will be all about timing. Rob needs to play full speed and react to what we are doing in game speed. Hopefully he'll be able to give us good minutes. Down low is the one area where we don't have depth. We can't take injuries there."
Senior Forward Rob Thomas
On his return to the court tomorrow
"I found out the other day in practice that I was going to play tomorrow. Coach wants me ready to go."
On his recovery from the groin injury
"I am excited. I need to step up and take the opportunity that is presented right now. I am ready to get back in the groove and contribute to the team in anyway possible."
On his perception of the change in his team from a year ago
Junior Forward Sean Evans
"We have tons of guys who can score the ball. We play very good defense. Our juniors are now in leadership roles and that is making the difference."
On Rob Thomas
"Rob has been out, but he is getting back into shape and looking good. We are excited for him to play tomorrow."
On the positives from the Duke game
"We didn't get a win, but we showed toughness. We played hard and there were a lot of goods and bads. Dele played well defensively. Brownlee played well for us too."
On his increased role this season
"I've been taking on a bigger load. Coach looks to me to score and I want to help in any way possible. I'm getting to the basket and scoring in different ways."
Junior Forward Dele Coker
On his role as a starter against Georgia
"I'm stepping up to fill big shows and I will do what I can. The game starts and you know it's time for business. You have to do what you have to do to win."
Junior Guard Dwight Hardy
On his role in a deep Red Storm lineup
"I'm going to be aggressive on both ends of the floor. Burrell is a scoring presence and intimidating on defense for us, so Dele Coker and Justin Brownlee will be playing more minutes. Everyone will have to step up."
On playing at Madison Square Garden
"I played at The Garden in high school and I am excited to go back. I can't wait to play in front of a lot of friends and family, but most importantly, I want to win."
