Head Coach Steve Lavin

On preparing for Xavier:

“Xavier has outstanding guard play.  They are improving.  You can see in recent weeks they are getting better. They have some big, strong, wide bodies. They are a tough physical team.  They blitzed Cincinnati, and that is no easy task. They are going to be a handful.”

On playing on the road:

“All road games in college basketball are especially challenging. The home teams have built in advantages and a familiar environment. Visiting teams have a smaller margin for error when playing on the road, putting a premium on execution.”

On Xavier’s style of play:

“Transition defense was a focus. Xavier gets down the floor in a hurry. So for us, getting back to limit Xavier runs is going to be a priority.”

On preparing for the conference slate:

“Athletes and teams are creatures of habit so we strive for consistent manner of preparing for every opponent. We make adjustments within our scouting and game planning based on the opposing teams personnel and patterns of play."

2012-13 BIG EAST Rookie of the Year JaKarr Sampson

On Semaj Christon:

“I played with him when I was at Brewster [Academy]. He’s a quick guard, very skilled and he was actually Rookie of the Year in his conference too so we’ll see how things go.”

Junior Guard D’Angelo Harrison

On entering BIG EAST play against Xavier:

“We do a good job of preparing, studying film and watching players. It’s like homework. We are going to be ready to play Xavier.”
