Round Two of the Connecticut Cup Postponed due to Inclement Weather|

ELLINGTON, Conn. -Inclement weather at the Ellington Ridge Country Club in Ellington, Conn. forced postponement of round two for the St. John’s men’s golf team and the 14 other programs competing in the Connecticut Cup. Play will resume on Tuesday with an 8:30 a.m. shotgun start.
The Red Storm posted a 298 (+10) in round one to share the seventh-place spot with Hartford, and trail the team leaders, UConn, by 14 strokes.
Juniors Andrew Baek and Matthew Sweeney, along with sophomore Gerald Mackedon, all finished with an identical two-over 74 to lead St. John's after the opening round. Mackedon highlighted the first day with five birdies, while Baek and Sweeney each birdied twice on the back nine.
Rounding out the scoring for the Johnnies was sophomore James Smoot and Ross Moore, who closed out the day with a 76 and 78, respectively, while junior Jonathan Spicci shot an 80 competing as an individual.
Jimmy Hervol of UConn leads the overall individual category with a four-under 68 to hold a three-shot lead over Cornell's Mike Graboyes.
