The Series

St. John’s leads the all-time series, winning the only official game between the two schools back in 1986, 22-4.

Last Time Out

Last Saturday, the Red Storm fell to Drexel on the road, 11-4. Sophomore Charlie Holenstein posted a career-high two points, scoring one goal and one assist in the first half. Senior Garrett Mitchell became the only player on the team to score a goal in every game this season after he found the net in the first half.

After falling behind 4-0, the Red Storm were able to climb back into the game and tie the score at 4 by the middle of the second quarter. Drexel scored a goal at the end of the first half and another in the third period to make the score 6-4 after three.

As the rain and wind made conditions more severe in the final frame, Drexel was able to add five goals and make the final margin 11-4.

NCAA Leaders

The Red Storm defense has been stout throughout the team’s first four games. The team has given up an average of 8.75 goals per game, ranking 17th among all D-I NCAA teams. Senior goalkeeper Gavin Buckley ranks in the Top 20 in the country in a couple of categories. He has averaged 8.75 goals allowed per sixty minutes and is ranked 19th in the country.
