• Duffy Highlight Goal
QUEENS, N.Y. – A trio of St. John’s lacrosse players landed on the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll, which was announced by the conference office on Monday afternoon. Following a close battle with Drexel last weekend in Queens, N.Y., Colin Duffy, Mike Madsen and Kyle Skramko each appeared on the conference’s weekly honor roll for their efforts in the contest.
Duffy led the Red Storm attack as he tallied a team season-high four points on a pair of goals and assists. He took seven shots on the afternoon, all seven targeted on goal and also picked up five groundballs and one caused turnover.
Duffy’s second goal was highlight worthy as the sophomore attackman checked in as the No. 2 play on SportsCenter Top-10 the following morning, Sunday, March 19. Drexel’s goalie Jimmy Joe Granito saved a Jackson O’Leary shot as the ball dribbled in front of the crease. With two defenders coming down, Duffy picked up the groundball, went into a roll as he shot behind his back and found the back of the net. This goal, Duffy’s second of the afternoon, cut the lead to 8-6 at the time.
Fellow attack, Madsen, also had a perfect shooting day as the Locust Valley, N.Y., native shot twice on goal, and found the back of the net both times. He also added a groundball in the game.
The third member of the Red Storm to earn an honor roll spot was LSM Skramko. The senior from Garden City, N.Y., was a ball hawk throughout the contest as he picked up four groundballs and caused three Drexel turnovers.
Head Coach Jason Miller and his squad hit the road next weekend for a local rivalry matchup with Hofstra, under the lights, at 7 p.m., on March 25.
