Masur To Speak On Coaching Panel At Annual NSCAA Convention

QUEENS, N.Y. - St. John's head men's soccer coach Dr. Dave Masur will represent the Red Storm this week in Kansas City, Kan., as a speaker at the annual National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) Convention. Masur is part of a group of coaches that will join EXACT Sports on Thursday, Jan. 12 to speak on a panel entitled: "DevelopMENTAL Coaching: The Elite Coaches' View of Mental Training and Development."

"It is an honor to be able to sit on a panel at the national convention and discuss the mental aspects of the game with such an experienced group," said Masur. "Mental training at both the individual and collective levels is something that we have been focused on here at St. John's for more than 20 years and has been a tremendous factor in the success that we have experienced as a program."

One of four head coaches on the panel, Masur is joined by North Carolina head women's coach Anson Dorrance, Ohio Wesleyan head men's coach Jay Martin and Illinois head women's coach Janet Rayfield. The coaching panel will join Simon Clements, Director for EXACT Soccer, and Dr. Ralph Tarter, Professor of Pharmaceutical Sciences and Psychology at the University of Pittsburgh and member of the Scientific Advisory Board at EXACT Sports, to discuss the effect of mental training on athletic success.

A two-time National Coach of the Year and a three-time BIG EAST Coach of the Year, Masur has won a National Championship, advanced to four College Cups and made 18 NCAA Tournament appearances at St. John's. The head coach has also led the Red Storm to a conference record nine BIG EAST Tournament crowns as well as six BIG EAST regular season titles.

Dorrance has won 20 NCAA National Championships with the Tar Heels, Martin's 608 wins are the most in NCAA men's soccer history and Rayfield has made eight NCAA Tournament appearances in 10 seasons with the Illini.
