QUEENS, N.Y. -
The Sixth Annual New York City Soccer Gala, honoring the history of The Beautiful Game in The Capital of the World, has been set for March 22 at the New York Athletic Club.
Each of the five New York City Division I men’s soccer programs will come together to recognize great figures in their respective histories in addition to honoring a pair of New York City soccer legends in Bill Manning and Len Roitman.
This year, St. John’s will honor Stefani Miglioranzi, a Brazilian-born standout who helped elevate the Red Storm to new heights in the mid 1990s. A member of the 1996 national championship team, Miglioranzi anchored the Red Storm to a 56-11-7 record, two BIG EAST Regular Season Championships, and the 1997 BIG EAST Tournament title during his tenure in Queens. At the conclusion of his amateur career, Miglioranzi began a professional journey that lasted more than a decade and spanned two continents. After suiting up for Portsmouth and Swindon Town in the United Kingdom for eight seasons, Miglioranzi returned to the states and competed for six years in Major League Soccer, highlighted by a 2008 MLS Cup with the Columbus Crew.
The honorees from the other four New York Area schools are as follows: Sal Rosamilia (Columbia), Chris Gonzalez (Fordham), Roger Chavez (LIU Brooklyn), and Dragan Radovich (St. Francis Brooklyn).
