QUEENS, N.Y. - Redshirt junior goalkeeper Andrew Withers has been named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll for the second time in the last three weeks, it was announced this afternoon by the conference office.
The Wellington, New Zealand, native put forth a superb effort for the Red Storm in its loss to No. 22/16 Butler on Saturday night, tallying a season-high six saves in 105 minutes of action. The Bulldogs' lone goal of the match came on a penalty kick in the second overtime period.
On the season, Withers leads the BIG EAST in both goals against average (0.58) and save percentage (.846), ranking 12th and 15th in the nation, respectively, in the those categories. His five shutouts also pace the conference and rank in the top 20 nationally.
Withers and the Red Storm return to action on Friday night, traveling to Omaha, Neb., for a meeting with Creighton at Morrison Stadium.
