Shearer Named to Top Drawer Soccer Freshman Top 100|
Dec. 20, 2017
QUEENS, N.Y. - Following a promising rookie campaign that saw him rank among the team leaders in goals and points, Jack Shearer has earned a spot on the Top Drawer Soccer Freshman Top 100, checking in at no. 29.
Only one player in the BIG EAST, conference freshman of the year Derek Dodson of Georgetown (no. 26), placed higher in the rankings than Shearer.
The Aliquippa, Pa., native made appearances in all 19 contests for the Red Storm this spring, including 15 starts. The 5-foot-11 forward found the back of the net three times and recorded three assists for nine points, a total that ranked third on the squad behind Harry Cooksley and Alistair Johnston.
All three of Shearer’s goals came during BIG EAST play, as he scored twice in the Red Storm’s 3-0 win over RV/No. 19 Xavier on Sept. 23 before adding another in a victory over DePaul on Oct. 21. Two of his three tallies proved to be game winners.
Shearer was unanimously selected to the BIG EAST All-Freshman Team at the conclusion of the regular season.
