St. John's Men's Tennis Completes Perfect First Weekend

WEST POINT, N.Y. - The St. John’s men’s tennis team completed its first weekend of the fall season on Sunday with a perfect 2-0 record at the Army West Point Shootout from West Point, N.Y.

The Red Storm defeated the defending Patriot League champions and host Army, as well as, NJIT in a doubles-only match on the weekend. The Johnnies went 4-2 in doubles play and 3-3 in singles matches.

Against NJIT – St. John’s wins 2-1

Next up for St. John’s is a trip to Malibu, Calif. for junior Luka Sucevic to compete in the Oracle/ITA Masters on Sept. 21-24. This national collegiate championship event will be held at Pepperdine University and the Malibu Racquet Club and will feature the returning Player of the Year from each Division I athletic conference, with one additional wild card spot. The tournament will consist of a double elimination 32-player men's singles draw and a double elimination 32-player women's singles draw, along with a single elimination 32-team mixed doubles draw.
