QUEENS, N.Y.– The St. John’s men’s tennis team will get to escape from the harsh New York winter and head to the West Coast for spring break where they will participate in the 125th Annual Pacific Coast Men’s Doubles Championship at the La Jolla Beach & Tennis Club in La Jolla, Calif. The prestigious tournament runs from Feb. 27 to March 2 with all Red Storm doubles partners participating.
This year’s installment of the second-oldest tennis event in the United States will feature top doubles pairs from programs such as No. 2 USC, No. 4 UCLA, No. 9 Cal and BIG EAST foe Villanova among others. This will be the first time that St. John’s will participate in the tournament and the historic tennis club.
On March 2, the Red Storm will take on Rice in a neutral site dual in San Diego at 6 p.m. The Owls will enter the contest at 2-7 overall and have lost their last five matches.
