NEW YORK – St. John’s senior Roberto Livi wrapped up a memorable Red Storm career with his fourth-straight selection to the All-BIG EAST Team, as announced by the conference office on Friday afternoon. Sophomore Alan Nunez Aguilera joined Livi on the All-Conference squad, which is voted on by the coaches, for the first time in his young career.
“It’s great to have Roberto and Alan selected to the All-BIG EAST Team,” said Head Coach Lauren Leo. “We are extremely proud of their achievements!”
Livi has been named to the All-BIG EAST team in each of the four seasons he spent with the Johnnies, including a pair of BIG EAST Player of the Year awards in 2015 and 2016.
The senior racked up more than 50 singles victories throughout his career with the Red Storm including eight wins in his final dual match season.
Livi spent a couple of weeks in the Oracle/ITA National Men’s Singles Rankings, checking in as high as No. 120 nationally. In the fall, Livi was invited to the Oracle/ITA Masters Tournament, receiving one of 32 invitations from the ITA. The senior went 3-2 in the prestigious championship event, reaching the finals of the singles consolation bracket.
The Port St. Lucie, Fla., native also grabbed eight victories in doubles play during the dual match season including three wins with fellow All-BIG EAST team member Nunez Aguilera.
Nunez Aguilera enjoyed a breakout season of his own during his second year donning the red and white. The sophomore went 12-4 in singles action while playing the majority of his matches at the No. 3 position. Nunez Aguilera also grabbed 12 doubles victories, going 10-6 at the No. 2 spot.
