2017 Fall Schedule (PDF)
QUEENS, N.Y. - The St. John’s men’s tennis team released its 2017 fall tournament schedule on Friday as the Red Storm take the court five-different times throughout the next three months.
Fall season begins on Saturday, Sept. 16 when the Red Storm heads to West Point, N.Y. for the Army West Point Shootout. The Johnnies will battle the reigning Patriot League champions, Army, as well as Fairfield and NJIT.
Following the trip to West Point, junior Luka Sucevic travels to Malibu, Calif. to compete in the Oracle/ITA Masters on Sept. 21-24. This national collegiate championship event will be held at Pepperdine University and the Malibu Racquet Club and will feature the returning Player of the Year from each Division I athletic conference, with one additional wild card spot. The tournament will consist of a double elimination 32-player men's singles draw and a double elimination 32-player women's singles draw, along with a single elimination 32-team mixed doubles draw.
The Johnnies will then take a trip to Princeton for the Farnsworth Invitational on Oct. 6-8 at the Lenz Tennis Center. Last season, the Red Storm won 19 singles matches and five student-athletes reached the finals of their respective singles draws including a pair of finals victories by Alan Nunez Aguilera and Dusan Vukicevic. The Farnsworth Invitational continues to honor the late Ted Farnsworth '84, an All-America honoree during his time at Princeton who went on to serve in the U.S. Navy before he passed away in 1993.
With fall in full swing, St. John’s will head to New Haven, Conn. and the campus of Yale for the 2017 ITA Northeast Regional Championships on Oct. 18-23. The Red Storm will return to the Bulldogs’ campus on Nov. 3-5 for the Connecticut State Championships.
