BIG EAST RELEASE
QUEENS, N.Y. - Following a week that saw the Red Storm pick up a pair of wins, St. John’s guard Alisha Kebbe has been named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll for the first time this season, it was announced by the conference on Monday afternoon.
In the Red Storm’s two games last week, the Philadelphia native averaged 13.5 points to help lead the Johnnies to back-to-back lopsided victories over Butler and Xavier. Kebbe shot 62.5 percent from the field (10-of-16) and 60.0 percent from three-point range (3-of-5). The sophomore guard, who ranks second in the conference play during league play for free-throw percentage (89.7), also went a perfect 4-for-4 from the charity stripe.
In addition to putting up points for the Red Storm, Kebbe averaged 7.0 rebounds, 4.0 assists and a pair of blocks.
Kebbe began her strong week for the Johnnies with a 12 point, five rebound performance that pushed the Red Storm to a 76-38 victory over Butler on Friday night. The 38 point margin of victory marked the team’s largest in a conference tilt since 2005.
Two days later, Kebbe paced the Red Storm in Sunday’s 70-36 rout of Xavier, finishing one rebound shy of a double-double with 15 points and nine boards.
Kebbe and the Red Storm return to action on Feb. 9, continuing BIG EAST play against Villanova at Jake Nevin Field House. Tip-off is scheduled for 11:30 a.m. on the BIG EAST Digital Network.
