Play4Kay set for Feb. 17.

QUEENS, N.Y. - Sunday is St. John's annual Play4Kay as St. John's hosts Cincinnati at 5 p.m. as part of February Frenzy on ESPN2. The Red Storm and Bearcats players and staff will be wearing pink in support of women's basketball's Play4Kay initiative with pink uniforms, sneakers, socks, laces and game day accessories.
Also coinciding with the game is the annual Women's Basketball Alumnae Reunion.
Tickets to the game are available for only $5 with advance purchase. Call 1-888-GO-STORM and mention "Play4Kay" to receive the special discount. St. John's students are FREE with a valid StormCard and will receive +5 MVP points.
Play4Kay is a nation of coaches serving others in the fight against Breast Cancer. The 2013 Play4Kay initiative (formerly known as WBCA Pink Zone) is an opportunity for the basketball community to raise breast cancer awareness and funds for research.
Red Storm fans can take part in St. John's Play4Kay efforts in a variety of ways. Fans can donate by calling 718-990-1382 or by making a donation at the designated boxes set up during men's and women's basketball games including:
• Feb. 17, 2013 ~ Play4Kay Day! Women's Basketball vs. Cincinnati at 5 p.m.
• Feb. 20, 2013 ~ Men's Basketball vs. USF at 7 p.m.
• Feb. 23, 2013 ~ Women's Basketball vs. Rutgers at 2 p.m.
• March 4, 2013 ~ Women's Basketball vs. DePaul at 7 p.m.
On Sunday, the first 1,500 fans in Carnesecca Arena will receive a free St. John's breast cancer awareness t-shirt courtesy of Coca-Cola. There will also be a variety of promotional items given away at the game, in addition to a silent auction that will be held during the contest. In the lobby, fans can participate in a poster-making station and pink Ribbon temporary tattoo station. St. John's has already been fundraising throughout the year, raising nearly $2,000 with its "Chuck A Duke" postgame promotion.
Additionally, Sunday will also feature the rescheduled Women In Sports Day pre-game multi-sport clinic. Open to kids 12 and under, the clinic consists of instruction from St. John's players and coaches from teams such as volleyball, soccer, track & field, cheer, dance, golf and basketball. The clinic will take place from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. with check-in at 1:30 p.m. in the Carnesecca Arena lobby. Clinic participants must RSVP by Friday, Feb. 15. The cost of the clinic is $10 and includes a price of a game ticket. A portion of the clinic proceeds will be donated to the Crush Cancer Fund for former St. John's Women's Basketball assistant coach, Clare Droesch, who continues to battle breast cancer. Also coinciding with Sunday's Play4Kay game is the Women's Basketball Alumnae Reunion. From 2 p.m. to 3:30 p.m., St. John's women's basketball alumnae are invited to come back and play against each other on the Carnesecca Arena floor. From 3:30 to 5 p.m., a reception has been scheduled in the Student-Athlete Academic Center. The price of the reception is $10 per person.
