BIG EAST Release

One day after setting career highs in points and three point field goals, Alisha Kebbe was named the BIG EAST Freshman of the Week, the league announced Monday.

Kebbe earns BIG EAST Freshman of the Week praise for a league-best fourth time this season after scoring a career-high 17 points in a 77-71 win over Seton Hall on Sunday. No other rookie has taken home the honor more than twice this season.

On Sunday, the freshman from Philadelphia, Pa., hit five of her nine attempts from the floor, including a career-high four of her six tries from behind the arc. Kebbe also grabbed four rebounds and came away with a steal in 32 minutes of action as the Red Storm locked up the No. 5 seed in the upcoming 2017 BIG EAST Women’s Basketball Tournament.

St. John’s returns to action on Sunday, Mar. 5, when it squares off with fourth-seeded Villanova in the quarterfinals of the conference tournament. The opening tip is scheduled for 9:30 p.m. ET on FS1.
