Kia Wright Earns First Team All-Met Honors

St. John???s senior guard Kia Wright was named to the 2007 All-Met first team by the Metropolitan Basketball Writers Association (MBWA). She will be honored at the 74th NIT/MBWA All-Met Haggerty Awards Dinner on Tuesday evening at Giants Stadium.

Wright, a first team All-Met selection as a junior, was St. John???s second-leading scorer (14.0 points per game) and led the BIG EAST in assists per game (5.5). She was honored by the league following the 2006-07 regular season by being named to the all-conference second team.

She will return for her final year of eligibility in 2007-08 for the Red Storm women???s basketball program. The team earned its fourth-straight BIG EAST Tournament berth this season under head coach Kim Barnes Arico and returns all five starters from this year's squad.

In addition to the honor for Wright and men???s basketball forwards Lamont Hamilton and Anthony Mason Jr., St. John???s Director of Athletics Chris Monasch will be honored by the MBWA with one of the organization???s 2007 Distinguished Service Awards.
