Nov. 10, 2017

QUEENS, N.Y. - Just hours away from the start of the 2017-18 regular season, the St. John’s women’s basketball team got a jump on the 2018-19 campaign as  Head Coach Joe Tartamella announced the signing of Kadaja Bailey to a National Letter of Intent. Bailey is currently a senior at St. Mary’s High School in Manhasset.

“Kadaja is one of the most gifted athletes we have recruited in my time here at St. John’s,” Tartamella said. “She is a true scorer with great length at the guard position. We have watched her since her days as a camper and her growth has been exciting to watch. She has a bright future ahead and we are all excited to officially welcome her to our program.”

The 6-foot wing averaged 19.6 points and 6.8 rebounds per game as a junior to land on Newsday’s All-Long Island Team. Bailey enters her senior season as a four-star recruit who is the No. 32 ranked player and the sixth-ranked wing in the class of 2018 according to Prospect Nation.

Bailey, who has scored over 1,500 points in her high school career, can play multiple positions on the floor. The Long Beach native has the ability to get to the rim with solid ball handling skills and can knock down the outside shot with consistency.
