BIG EAST Release
Additionally, senior Jade Walker earned a spot on the BIG EAST Weekly Honor roll for the third time this season.
Kebbe becomes the first St. John’s player to earn Freshman of the Week honors since Aaliyah Lewis was recognized on Dec. 2, 2013.
Kebbe helped the Red Storm to back-to-back victories last week as the Johnnies stretched their win streak to five games. In Tuesday’s win over Fordham, Kebbe set a season-high with 16 points on 7-of-13 shooting while grabbing seven rebounds in 28 minutes of action. The freshman also came away with a pair of steals and hit 2-of-4 from behind the arc.
The Philadelphia, Pa., native followed that up with a nine-point effort off the bench against Wagner. Kebbe hit four of her five shot attempts from the floor, including going 1-for-2 from deep. For the week, Kebbe averaged 12.5 points and 4.5 rebounds while shooting 61.1 percent from the floor.
Walker was the Red Storm’s top scorer last week, averaging 15.0 points while grabbing 6.5 rebounds per contest in the two wins. Against Fordham, Walker scored a game-high 18 points and brought down eight boards. In the win over Wagner, Walker again paced the offense as the Maplewood, N.J., native scored 12 points and grabbed five rebounds.
Kebbe, Walker and the rest of the Red Storm return to action on Wednesday when they host James Madison in the team’s annual Field Trip Day game. The first tip is scheduled for 11 a.m. on ESPN3.
