BIG EAST Release

QUEENS, N.Y. -
After helping the St. John’s women’s basketball team extend its win streak to six games last week, Alisha Kebbe was named the BIG EAST Freshman of the Week for the second week in a row, the league announced Monday.

Additionally, Imani Littleton earned a spot on the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll.

In the Red Storm’s lone game last week, Kebbe scored 12 points, dished out a season-best four assists and brought down three rebounds as the Johnnies battled back to defeat James Madison, 74-63. The Philadelphia, Pa., native shot 3-for-9 from the floor and hit all four of her free throw attempts. Last week’s 12-point effort was the third time the rookie scored in double figures this season.

Littleton had one of her finest games in a Red Storm uniform against the Dukes. The junior tied a career-high with 14 points and set a career-best with 13 rebounds, posting the first double-double of her career and the first St. John’s double-double since Danaejah Grant went for 22 points and 10 rebounds against DePaul in the semifinals of last year’s BIG EAST Tournament.

Kebbe, Littleton and the rest of the Red Storm return to action on Friday when they head to South Orange, N.J., to take on Seton Hall in the Johnnies’ BIG EAST opener. The game is scheduled for a 7 p.m. tip and will be broadcast live on FS2.
