CHICAGO - The St. John's women's basketball team will continue conference play when it travels to The Windy City on Saturday night, taking on DePaul at McGrath-Phillips Arena.
The game will be streamed live on the BIG EAST Digital Network with Jay Alter and Patricia Babcock McGraw on the call. Tip-off is scheduled for 8 p.m. ET.
Following an intense 74-72 overtime setback against Marquette to open up conference play, the Red Storm (7-5, 0-1 BIG EAST) will look to regain momentum against DePaul (9-4, 1-0 BIG EAST) before returning to Queens for back-to-back league games with Providence and Creighton.
In the contest against the Golden Eagles, sophomore guard Alisha Kebbe led the way for the Johnnies with a season-high 16 points. The Philadelphia native drilled two 3-pointers, grabbed six rebounds and notched four steals against Marquette, a contest that saw St. John's force a season-high 27 turnovers.
Qadashah Hoppie and Andrayah Adams each added 13 points for the Red Storm, while Imani Littleton netted seven points to go along with a team-high four blocks.
Saturday's showdown will be the 20th meeting all-time between St. John's and DePaul. After claiming all three matchups against the Red Storm last season, the Blue Demons have now won nine of the previous 10 matchups between the two teams. The Johnnies' lone victory during that stretch came on the grandest of stages, as Aliyyah Handford and Danaejah Grant combined for 45 points in the 2016 BIG EAST Semifinals, leading the Red Storm past top-seeded Blue Demons on their home floor en route to the program's first conference title in 28 years.
In the last meeting between the two teams during the 2017 BIG EAST Tournament, sophomore guard Alisha Kebbe narrowly missed a double-double, as the Philadelphia native finished with nine points and nine rebounds.
DePaul, who is receiving votes in the AP and USA Today Coaches Poll, enters Saturday's game on the heels of an 89-66 victory over Seton Hall. Led by sophomore Kelly Campbell's triple-double (12 points, 11 rebounds, 11 assists), the Blue Demons tied a program record with 19 3-pointers in their BIG EAST opener. Ashton Millender paced DePaul with seven triples in the team's historic effort.
DePaul currently lead the BIG EAST in three-point shots made (13.5 per game) as well as scoring offense ( 88.7 ppg). Junior guard Ashton Millender leads the team with 14.6 points a game in addition to grabbing 1.2 steals per contest.
Following Saturday's matchup, the Red Storm will return home to Carnesecca Arena to continue league play against Providence (Jan. 2) and Creighton (Jan. 5).
