St. John's Women's Golf Inks A Pair During Early Signing Period

QUEENS, N.Y. – Less than a month after the conclusion of the 2014 fall golf season, head coach Ambry Bishop has announced that Kirsty Beckwith and Lydia Kim have signed National Letters of Intent to play golf at St. John’s beginning in the fall of 2015.
 
“We are looking forward to the arrival of Kirsty and Lydia next fall,” said Bishop. “I have really enjoyed getting to know them through the recruiting process and look for both of them to come in and have an immediate positive impact on the women’s golf program here at St. John’s. They are both committed to working hard on the golf course and in the classroom, and will make a great addition to our team.”
 
Born in Leeds, England, Beckwith was named the Abraham Trophy Winner in 2012, given to England’s most improved girls golfer each year. In 2013, Beckwith was crowned the Northern Girls Champion after carding a 74-73—147 and earned third at the 2013 Yorkshire Junior Championship with a 76-70—146. Formerly a member of the Mooretown Golf Club where she was crowned Golf Monthly/Odyssey’s Brittan’s Best Putter in 2012, Beckwith now plays for Alwoodley Golf Club, home to one of Britain’s finest inland courses.
 
Raised in Spokane, Washington, Kim was named a first team All-Greater Spokane League selection after an impressive junior season where she recording a 75 stroke average. A member of the Spokane Country Club, Kim recorded a seventh-place finish at the 2014 American Junior Golf Association (AJGA) Ryan Moore Junior Championship, carding a 77-74-75—226.
