Scott McLaughlin is in his fourth season as the assistant coach for the St. John's women's soccer team. In his short time with the Red Storm, he has been a part of several successful campaigns, including the program's first ever NCAA Tournament appearance in 2009. McLaughlin came to the Red Storm after a 10-year stint as an assistant coach with the Adelphi women's soccer program. In his role, he helped guide the Panthers to five NCAA appearances, four conference titles and to three NCAA Northeast Regional championships. In addition, his 2004 team at Adelphi was the NCAA Division II championship runner up. In 2001, he took a one-year absence from the Panthers to serve as an assistant women's soccer coach at Gettysburg College in Gettysburg, Pa. McLaughlin was a four-year soccer player at Elizabethtown College in Pennsylvania. During his tenure, he helped lead the team to three appearances in the NCAA Division III tournament and to three Mid-Atlantic Conference championships. In his senior year, McLaughlin was named to the All-Mid Atlantic first team. He is a member of the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) and holds a National Diploma License. From 2004-2010, McLaughlin served as a part of the Eastern New York ODP South Girls' staff. He has also been a part of the Region I ODP camp staff since May 2006. In January of 1998, he received his bachelor's degree in business administration from Elizabethtown with a concentration in finance. He continued his education at Adelphi, earning his master's degree in physical education in January 2001. He is currently pursuing a second masters in Educational Administration as both a School Building/District Leader. In addition to his coaching responsibilities with the Red Storm, McLaughlin is involved in recruiting and overseeing the strength and conditioning program.
