STJ Women's Soccer, Women's Golf Earn BIG EAST Team Excellence Awards

QUEENS, N.Y. - St. John’s women’s soccer and women’s golf teams have received the 2009-10 BIG EAST Team Excellence Awards after achieving the highest team grade-point averages in their respective sports.

With a 3.55 grade point average for the 2009-10 academic year, the women’s soccer team recorded its highest GPA under head coach Ian Stone. Additionally, eight women’s soccer players earned NSCAA Scholastic honors, while five players were named to College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-District teams and two players were named Academic All-Americans.

The St. John’s women’s golf team totaled a 3.50 GPA for 2009-10. Led by recent graduate Renee Cloutier, who has also received an NCAA Postgraduate Scholarship, the Red Storm continued its commitment to success on the golf course, in the community and in the classroom, claiming the BIG EAST Team Excellence Award for the second consecutive year.
